24-year-old Latanya McDonald was charged with domestic assault after she wrestled with and punched her mother in the face because she wasn’t allowed in her parents’ home.
On April 22nd, police were called to 4368 Ashland City Highway for a domestic disturbance. According to the affidavit, Monica Merritt-McDonald told authorities she had been roused from sleep by knocking at her door. When she answered she told the visitor, her daughter Latanya McDonald, that she could not come in or stay and had to depart. Latanya demanded to speak with her father and attempted to shove Monica out of the way.
Monica pushed her daughter back out the door and Latanya responded by punching her in the face. The pair grappled a few moments and ultimately Latanya stopped and retreated. Latanya McDonald fled the scene in a black Jeep Wrangler. Husband and father Ernest McDonald stated he heard the shouting and when he went to investigate had observed his wife and daughter’s altercation at the front door. Officers noted 2 scratches and a swollen lip sustained by Monica Merritt-McDonald.
Latanya McDonald was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $1,500.
