The swanky Stadium Club at the Los Angeles Galaxy’s Dignity Health Sports Park, overlooking the field, usually hosts celebrities and other well-heeled guests, who sip drinks while watching Major League Soccer games.
But sports are suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic and bans on large gatherings, so there aren’t any soccer games for the Carson stadium to host.
So instead, it welcomed 60 donors this week for a Red Cross blood drive. Blood donations have dropped significantly because of the public health crisis, the Red Cross has said.
The donors enjoyed views of the verdant — yet empty — turf Thursday, May 21, while they waited for their blood to be drawn.
A second blood drive is set for June 4. Visit redcrossblood.org to register.
