#sportsscores | Notre Dame vs. Louisville score: Live game updates, college football scores, NCAA highlights, full coverage

No. 4 Notre Dame leads Louisville 12-7 after three quarters, as an eventful third quarter helped turn around what had been a boring game in the first half.

Notre Dame had three red zone possessions in the first half but managed only two field goals despite never turning the ball over. The Irish attempted a fake before halftime, but it failed and left them with a 6-0 lead despite dominating most of the first half. And it was a decision that looked to be a bad one once the second half started.

Louisville put together its best drive of the game to start the third quarter, converting numerous third downs until Malik Cunningham found Marshon Ford for the score. The 13-play, 83-yard touchdown drive took up half the quarter and gave Louisville a 7-6 lead, but Notre Dame would answer quickly. Ian Book led the Irish on a 66-play drive that ended with a terrific touchdown run by Book on third-and-8. His scramble was enough to pick up the first, but Book then broke a tackle and tap-danced down the sideline before extending for the goal line. The Irish attempted a two-point conversion afterward, but it was no good, and that left the score at 12-7.

Of interest in the final quarter will be the status of Louisville QB Malik Cunningham, who left the game late in the third quarter after picking up an injury of some sort. He was last seen on the sideline in the injury tent. CBS Sports will be with you the entire way updating this story with the latest from Notre Dame vs. Louisville.
